Fire Chief Shot Over Speeding Ticket

September 4th, 2009

Fire Chief Don Payne was irate over the constant harassment from the local police department.  This Australian town is out of control, with 187 residents, 7 police officers, and they don’t even have any retail stores.

Payne got in some when he went back to the judge to vent his frustration and a scuffle broke out. He was unarmed, but shot in the back any way. Apparently the police department couldn’t subdue one 39 year old man without shooting him in the back.

Details here.

Cop Loses Job Over 149 MPH Speeding Ticket

August 25th, 2009

Bad day for Officer Christopher Thomas of Gahanna, Ohio. Seems he was cited for doing 149 MPH on a motorcycle riding along Interstate 70. Kudos to the officer who actually gave him a ticket instead of letting him off.  Thomas was fired, paid a $150 fine and lost his license for 6 months. Full story here.

Texas Speeding Ticket Fines in School Zones

August 19th, 2009

Allstate Insurance did a survey of Texas speeding tickets in school zones. Average fine for exceeding speed limit by 10 MPH is $209. Funny – they didn’t mention how much they jacked up your insurance when you got that ticket. But I bet it’s a lot more than $200. Full story and fine details here.
